Funding Awesome FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost?

Nope! These grants are free!

Can non-US nonprofits apply?

Yes. Nonprofits everywhere are welcome to apply for all grants, but please note that some grants may naturally have location-related requirements or stipulations. For example, some of the marketing/branding grants may require that the organization use US English as their primary language and the capital grants will be granted in USD. Review the notes on the individual grant pages for more information or just ask!

Can an organization receive more than one grant?

It could happen. Ideally, each grant would go to a different nonprofit, but who knows? The Foundation Review Board may award more than one grant to an individual charity. Which means...Apply for all of the grants that your nonprofit needs!

What are the odds of being awarded a grant?

Odds of being selected to receive a grant are determined upon the number of entries received and the quality of each application. Each grant application will be screened by the Foundation Review Board for consideration. Applying multiple times won't increase the likelihood of receiving any grant.

Can my organization apply for the same grant multiple times?

Yes. But. The Foundation Review Board will collect all of an organization's applications for any one grant and consider them as one application for the purposes of grant selection. This means that applying multiple times won't increase the likelihood of receiving any grant.

As an example, if your Program Director applies for the Recruitment Grant and your CEO also applies for the Recruitment Grant, the Foundation Review Board will combine both applications to consider as a single entry for your organization.

Oops! I made an error and need to update my grant application.

We get it, things happen. If the error is a major error (such as the wrong email address) please contact us via email.

If your error is minor, like a typo, don't sweat it! We're human beings, just like you! sOmetimes we mak mistaKes.

If you forgot to tell us something great about your organization and you really want us to know, we recommend that you submit a fresh application. The Foundation Review Board will collect all of an organization's applications for any one grant and consider them as one application for the purposes of grant selection. As an example, if your Program Director applies for the Recruitment Grant and your CEO also applies for the Recruitment Grant, the Foundation Review Board will combine both applications to consider as a single entry for your organization.

What is the deadline for grant applications?

11:59pm PT, July 31, 2018

Can I check the status of my grant application?

Due to the volume of applications received, we can't advise on the status of individual grant applications. If you received a confirmation email, you're in the running!

When will grant recipients be notified?

If your nonprofit is selected to receive a grant or funding, they will be notified by phone or email approximately forty five (45) business days after the close of the application period.

Are these grants open to nonprofits who don't use Funraise?

Absolutely! Whether or not you use awesome Funraise fundraising tools won't influence the decision of the Review Board.

How do I know if my nonprofit organization is eligible for these grants?

These grants are open to all active nonprofit organizations with a valid tax ID or EIN (charity number of their own country.) The representative submitting the grant application should be over 18 years of age at the beginning of the entry period (May 9, 2018).

The grant application requires an EIN number. As a non-US nonprofit, how should I fill out that field?

All of our easy online grant applications ask for your EIN or charity number, so we'll accept whatever tax or government nonprofit registration number is used in your country.

The Foundation Review Board will reach out to those shortlisted organizations to gather more information on their vision and mission. The Foundation Review Board will look at factors that could include growth, potential for growth, innovation, financials, and the answers you provide to our grant application and follow up questions.

Who's on the Foundation Review Board determining grant recipients?

All grants will be given out by the Funraise Future Fund (FFF). FFF will create a committee specifically for this purpose, incorporating professionals that have worked in a variety of nonprofits. Partners providing grants will be offered a position on the committee for that specific grant.
